Day 20: Thursday, January 20th, 2011

Today was a little tougher than usual.  Decided to go out to lunch with a co-worker.  I didn't get anything but watching him eat Greek food it was tough!  Smelled good and looked good.  But this is worth it.

So I am noticing in my pictures that my back is the one thing that is getting bigger and bigger.  I always felt I had a large back and it was the easy place for me to gain muscle.

Other thing I noticed is I am rock hard.  The front and sides of my abs are rock.  My chest is rock.  My arms are rock.  I was explaining to a person I can tell now when people are using creatine.  He asked how.  I stated they look bloated.  They may look strong and big but there is no definition.  This is something I do not want.  I would rather be smaller but cut.  Not big and fat looking.

So due to get a tattoo on Saturday I am moving my Saturday workout to Friday and my Friday workout (which requires no gym to Saturday).  I don't want to not have time for my workout because I got out too late from the tattoo shop.

On a side note I actually feel really bad that I am getting a tattoo from someone other than my friend Luke.  Luke if you see this, I am sorry but don't worry the tattoos that truly will take an expert to do our yours to do.

So I weighed in at 172.5 this morning (still up and down between 172 and 173.5 lbs).  Here are the pics from this morning.

Day 19: Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

Counting down .... 10 ..... 9 (which is tomorrow) days left.  Wow this week is flying.  I really could not believe today was Wednesday.  I felt like I just had my cheat meal a couple of days ago.  This is proving how easy the diet has turned.  I rarely even use the additional flavors i bought as the shakes are good.  Slowly people are starting to ask me about the diet and workout.  They want to know where to go and find out how to do it themselves.  Like I have said before anyone who does this will have my full support, just make sure you are very disciplined on eating habits because you won't survive a week if you aren't.

I have decided once I have finished the diet to turn my regular diet into what is called the Velocity Diet Lite version.  Which will consist of a shake in the morning and before bed.  I will then have 3-4 small meals throughout the day.  Also because I love the recovery drink so much I will probably continue that also.  The eating habits will be healthy still, with once in a while cheating on bad food but nothing to bad.  Hey I got has to live once in a while.

What is amazing is that I am not even 75% done but feel so close.  That means I have more improving to do.  What is also going to be great is on Saturday (day 22) I will be getting a tattoo on my ribs and well at least I will have a flat stomach to show it off the way it should.

Day 18: Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

10 days to go!!! So today was good.  I find being at work makes the diet easier.  I am constantly doing something and because of that I am doing cardio (just not intense).  Also lack of boredom makes me not tempted to cheat on the diet.

I am loving the results each day.  But now I am become nit picky about what i need to improve.  But these are things that I will handle once I am done with this diet.  Still concerned about my diet afterwards.  I know most likely the final result i have from this I won't be able to keep (lean wise) but I will just have to look at the before and after pictures and make sure I keep myself better than the before picture and closer to the after picture.

Day 16: Sunday, January 16th, 2011

Well today was very non-exciting in the diet.  I didn't workout, I drank my shakes and that was it.  But the only thing that was bothering me was I was re-reading the article again on how to do it.  I was looking at pics and going damn those people got really ripped out, and I have less than a week.  Then it hit me.  This is only the beginning week three.  I still got 12 more days to go.  So now I feel a lot more comfortable about it.

Things I did notice about today was my arms and chest look a lot bigger.

I woke up weighing 173.5 lbs.  today also.

Day 15: Saturday, January 15th, 2011

Another day down.  Yup 13 more to go.  I would say this was a more difficult day when it came to temptations but I made it hard on myself.  First thing I did was wake up later than usual so my eating (well drinking) schedule was all out of it.  But a couple of things that didn't help were, well i did nothing for a good portion of the day causing me to be bored at times and when you are bored typically food sounds good.  Another thing was I went to a birthday party and they had a lot of great smelling food, grilled chicken, hot dogs, meatballs, sausages and bunch of chocolaty desserts.  But I resisted and got out of there without eating anything.  Then I went to another get together and everyone was drinking and that was a little difficult to say no.  At least one thing I learned about myself is that I do not need to drink anymore to have a good time.  But that is another thing.

I did notice though that I had an easier time lifting today.  This was the third time around doing this workout and felt the easiest it has been.  I even added weight to all things and still it felt easier.  That is good, because like I have said I was worried about losing strength.

Day 14: Friday, January 14th, 2011

HALF WAY DONE!!!!

Yup I am half way done.  It truly is flying by now.  I am so used to the diet that I don't even think about anything else.  I get excited about the workouts now because the results are immediate.  What also is great that I look great and this is only 14 days in.  I can only imagine what I am going to look like in two more weeks!!!

So to be honest I am so glad I am doing this diet.  It has boosted my ego (like I needed that, lol) but I feel well lean and hard.  My stomach is a rock and is really starting to look like the so called washboard.  Places I used to feel fat are now completely gone.  Another thing is how lean my face looks.

Things I would like to see happen in the next two weeks are muscle growth.  I know it is happening but now I would love to see some significant growth.  Especially in my arms, chest and shoulders.

I would say if you are able to resist food for a week you can do this because your body will get used to the shakes.  I would then recommend this diet/workout to anyone.  It truly does WORK!!!

So I did my cardio like workout tonight.  That one is the one that hurts the most and feels like I work the whole body.  I definitely did it easier than last week but still it was difficult.

My food was good tonight but wasn't craving it .... I ended up getting a 7 oz steak, about 10 pieces of shrimp and steamed assortment of vegetables.

I did weigh in at 172.5 lbs. this morning, showing all together I have 7.5 pounds but only 1/2 pound since day 6.

Day 13: Thurssday, January 13th, 2011

Today was E-Z!  The only thing that I found peculiar was that my appetite was more than usual today.  In the past I am either hungry right in time for my next shake or actually not wanting the next shake but more just drinking it because I had to.  Today was different, I was hungry within two hours.  Did my metabolism pick up?  I don't know.

Another thing I would love to do is get my body fat percentage checked out.  I have to be at 10 or lower percent right now.

Outside of all that nothing special, no workout today or anything.  I weighed in at 173 this morning and like lately just been hovering at this weight.

Last thing is what do I eat for my cheat meal tomorrow?  Do I have salmon with rice and a side salad or get a good sized chicken salad?  I don't know yet and probably won't know until dinner time.

Day 12: Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

Seriously this is actually becoming easier to do.  I have accepted the thought of drinking shakes for every meal and don't even question or crave things when it comes time.  So I am though debating about what to have on Friday night for my cheat meal, either, Chicken salad or Salmon rice and a vegetable.  Not sure exactly which one but that is because like I said I am not craving anything.

Test that is going to be hard is Saturday as I got invited to a BBQ.  Smelling and seeing food like that will suck because just like most people BBQ is hard to pass up.

Another thing that makes me wonder over and over is the whole eating healthy once I am done with this diet.  How slowly do I increase my calorie intake?  Do I, just go drastic or stay around 2000 calories.  It is going to depend how my body adapts to my future workout schedule:

Monday through Sunday in the morning will be the workout "Insanity".  It is P90X minus the douche guy and more cardio like.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be spin class at lunch.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday will also be kettlebell class which is a hell of a workout.  That will be after work and before school (if I have school that day).

Finally Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday will be a workout program that has lifting involved.

Yes my body will be hurting but hey you only live once.

So I assuming that this will actually push me over 3000 calories easily but I will start off lower and then work my way up if I feel like I am not seeing gains, and decrease calories if I start to put on weight.

Day 10: Tuesday, January 10th, 2011

I hit double digits now.  I mean 10 days now.  I am shocked I have been doing this for 10 days.  It feels like it is going on forever but yet it just feels like I just started.  It is amazing the results already.  But I got 18 more days to go.

So I think I am hitting my low point in weight.  I weighed in today at 173.5.  It was actually half a pound more than yesterday.  I am thinking that my muscle is starting to catch up now and less fat is burning off (because there isn't much left).  Also I lost a lot of water weight at the beginning because of no salt in the system to hold it.

My workout today was great.  I did the following:

Lat Pulldown - 210x8, 210x8, 210x8, 210x8, 210x8

Great thing I read in the hints section today about the food was adding flavoring to the shakes.  So I bought a bunch of mixing flavors that are used for cooking cakes and pies.  It made the shakes AMAZING.  Finally a reason to like the vanilla powder.

Day 9: Tuesday, January 9th, 2011

I would like to laugh.  As expected I was questioned why I am doing this, why don't I just eat healthy and workout?  Ummm ... I pretty much do eat healthy, I love to workout... for those who don't understand why I am doing this, well because you only live once.  What I mean is that when I get told to truly get myself in great shape because metabolism has really slowed down, I don't recover as quick from workouts and my life is very busy, that I don't want to look back at when I had the opportunity to push myself and think I didn't.  This is for me, no one else.  This is to prove to myself that I can go this long on something this strict.

Now today was a non-lift day.  For some reason I just never really grew an appetite today.  It was mostly just drinking my shakes and waiting for it to digest.  I don't know why I felt this way but I did.  I had mostly banana cream today and it kind of made me nauseous after awhile.  I really wish I had gotten mostly chocolate now.

So really not much to discuss for today.  No lifting and no diet change.  Although I am now less than 20 days away from being done!

Day 8: Tuesday, January 8th, 2011

Back to no food and it sort of sucked.  No true cravings but more wanted to chew something.  Although how I knew I was good on food was I sat with a bunch of people today while they ate their lunch and I drank my shake.  It smelled good but I was okay and didn't need it.

I weighed in today at 173 the exact same as yesterday.  I am sort of shocked because I really thought i would have put a little bit of weight because of eating regular food and that had to increase my calorie take to above normal for a regular day.  I am thinking I will drop below 170 by Tuesday, that will be the first time since 2007 in which I get horribly sick for a 4-5 day period.

Nice thing also was my workout today was the second time through it.  It was easier this time.  I had more energy but I still admit the food intake I had the day before the workout last time probably caused some problems.  But I am noticing strength going up and muscle is continuing to build.

Day 7: Tuesday, January 7th, 2011

I LOVE FOOD!  Yeah today for dinner was my allowed once a week cheat meal.  Although still healthy it was far better than a shake!  I had a steak with baked potato and side garden salad.  Amazing tasting and I took my time eating it.  The site was right though my appetite has shrunk and although I ate it all the last part was for taste.  Also no cravings today at all.  The thought of having the dinner was sounding good but not craving.  So that is good.  We will see tomorrow how that goes after get a taste of food.  Will I be okay, or will it be like crack and you can't break the addiction only put into remission for a while.

The other thing that was new was the workout today!  Holy crap that was harder than it is read.  I had to do each exercise 10 reps at a time and 7 cycles of the workout.  So each workout consisted starting with:

Jumping Split Squat
Hand Walkout - from toes
Single Leg Deadlift - With twist and lateral arm
Pushup - Torso rotation
Jumping Jacks
Side Lunge Overhand Reach
Pike Pushup
Squat Thrust - Jump and Reach

Now I went down the line doing each set for a total of 10 reps per exercise with no rest between exercises.  Then took 2-3 minutes to start next cycle.  That hurt by the time I got to the Pike Pushup.  Speaking of that I was supposed to do Handstand Pushup.... ummm yeah ... a little harder than it sounds.  Stand on your head and then lift all your weight.  Go ahead and see how it is.

So I am officially one week down and three more primary weeks to go.  I am proud of what I have done and to all the haters out there just suck it up because you can't do it.

Last things, same food except replace my regular dinner with the cheat meal.  I woke up at 173 pounds this morning, meaning I have lost 7 pounds in six days.  I think that will change due to dinner.  Here are my pics:

Day 6: Tuesday, January 6th, 2011

Guess what ... NO CRAVINGS (well sort of).  I did not cravings at all today except just recently which for some odd reason was an egg salad sandwich (I blame television).  But that is great news if it continues.  It means 6 days in and now the rest should be easier.

So with the diet/workout I am really seeing results.  Today I felt just really good.  I am feeling my body tightening up and becoming harder.  I also am seeing muscle growth.  This is great.  I now am really excited because I am not even 25% done and I am happy with the results, just imagine the final results!

My attitude towards things is also good.  I was worried about becoming irritable easily but I have yet to do that.  I feel very nice and relaxed.  Nothing out of the ordinary in emotions.  Same things make me happy, angry or depressed but nothing where it was to do that.  So I guess that is good.

I did find something that made me happy.  I went to Costco and found the FiberChoice pills that were recommended (sugarless).  What made me excited was they are fruit flavored and CHEWABLE.  You don't realize how much chewing something is missed.

Another thing I am excited about is tomorrow's dinner.  I am planning on a steak, baked potato and small salad.  It sounds good but because the cravings are going away not needing it.  Just hope the taste doesn't restart my cravings again.

I did my fast paced walk today.  Got a good sweat from it and felt good.  Also feeling soreness (the good soreness) in my legs from yesterdays lift.

I weighed in at 175 pounds today.  I wonder how much longer I will continue to lose weight at this pace.  I have to figure because I am lean already that it will stop and I will start putting on again with muscle.

Day 5: Tuesday, January 5th, 2011

Mmmmm ... bologna.  Yes that is what i was craving around 2:00 this afternoon.  A bologna sandwich wheat with ketchup.  Earlier it was fishsticks.  I posted it on Facebook and outside of the people hating on me, the one question was are you pregnant?  Actually it almost seems like it.  I am craving weird things.  Last time I was like this was 10 1/2 years ago at basic trianing where i craved things like my mom's tuna noodle casserole.  Now I understand that pregnant women are more hungry than a typical person and sharing stuff with the child causing the amount of usual needs and wants to be higher.

Nice part about today was no appetite really.  I was never truly starving like past days.  I actually felt full all day.  Even the shake i just drank was because I had to not because I wanted to.  I guess it took 5 days for my body to adjust to the lower rate of calories.

So I am leaned out already.  I am skinny guy who needs muscle now.  The workout today was good and hurt but worked well.  It focused on chest, triceps, biceps, upper back, shoulders and finally thighs.  So I am getting some leg workouts.  BUT ... I still can't figure out how my calves are going to be okay.  I am so used to cardio that they built themselves up.  I am almost tempted to add a quick calve exercise to the workout if they shrink.  But I got to trust the program and may not realize i am working them.

I did add an engery supplement today to my lift and that was a scoop of Jack3d.  It doesn't have much nutritional facts on it but it helped a lot compared to the past two workouts.

Let's see i weighed 175.5 this morning.  I have lost a total of 4.5 pounds since Saturday, NICE!  I think my natural weight will be 165 to 170 so lets see how close i get to that.

Day 4: Monday, January 4th, 2011

**NOTE TO SELF** Do not go to bowling at lunch time with co-workers while on diet!

Damn drinking a strawberry shake is not the same as smelling pizza, chicken strips, hot dogs, burgers and fries.  Although i was proud of myself for not giving in.  But those guys made it tough... Matt do you want to finish this for us, or mmmm.... this is good.  Cruelty!

So I weighed myself this morning and I was shocked to see I weighed 176.5 still.  I really figured with the first week I would keep losing weight but none between Monday and Tuesday morning.  I guess I am already leaning and I may not have as much fat as I think I do to lose.  But I will see what I weigh in the morning.

Another thing I noticed and was a little shocked by it was I could see exactly what muscles I worked on Monday.  What I mean is in the past when I lift in the past I would be big for a while and just like anyone else it shrinks back to close to normal.  Well this morning while weighing myself I look and I notice that the area I lifted were still bigger than usual.  I guess the stuff I am taking actually does what it says and starts working immediately.

I had strawberry flavored today.  It was good but bland at times.  It is better with just the leucine or by itself but not with the super food mixed in.  If I had to rank the flavors it would go, Chocolate, Banana Cream, Strawberry and Vanilla.  Yes Vanilla is more like AT&T and nowhere close to 3rd.

Day 3: Monday, January 3rd, 2011

Cravings are going away!!!  Well at least today they did.  I was able to sit there at school tonight watching a guy eat beef stroganoff and had no desire to eat it.  That is great!

So lets see umm today was banana day.  Still doesn't compare to the chocolate day.  But it was definitely better than vanilla.  Tomorrow will be strawberry, the last of the flavors to try.  Hopefully it is good.  I am still hungry within an hour of drinking a shake but I figure the reasons are:

  1. I am taking Hot Rox which is a diet supplement.
  2. My body is still adjusting from 4000 calories to 1400 to 1900 calories a day.

I was a little tired in the afternoon but once I took a Hot Rox I woke up, so it is definitely a stimulant.

So my diet today consisted of the same as Saturday but with banana flavor:

Day 2: Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

Wooohooo boy.  Cravings definitely started to kick in today.  Lets just say commercials with food, shows with food it all looked good.  BUT.... not that good.  Just looked tasty like it does when you are hungry.  Which just like when I am eating normally when something looks good doesn't mean I am running out the door and buying it.  If so I probably would be able to run, fit through the door and afford the television I am using to see such commercials/shows.

Well I went with vanilla protein today.  It was ummm.... VANILLA.  Tomorrow I plan on trying banana cream.  Then on Tuesday strawberry.  Then after one cycle through the flavors I will start combining them.  Every shake requires two scoops of protein so I will do a scoop of each, like chocolcate-banana or vanilla strawberry.  At least it will change things up in that aspect.

The hunger was about the same today as yesterday but I understand my body requires a couple of days to get used the change in calorie intake.  It would be like all of a sudden going from 1500-1800 calories to 4000 calories your body would be like, PLEASE STOP FEEDING ME.  Lets see how I am come Wednesday that would be 5 days into the process.

The results are starting to show already.  I am leaned out right now as we speak.  I am seeing my abs without doing anything but mostly the top 4 abs, the bottom two are there but not showing unless I flex.  One worry I have is losing muscle mass.  I am so tempted to do sit-ups and push-ups but I got to follow the plan but after week 1 if I don't see results and think that muscle is being dissolved then I will.  Also another thing I noticed and this is not from this workout specifically but my calves have gotten smaller.  I know it is because I started running less because it was cold as hell in the morning.  I don't really see anything that is going to make the calves build up which is odd and I do not want CHICKEN LEGS.  I guess maybe my walk I do is supposed to help in that aspect.

Speaking of the walks I do get a sweat from them.  I do an half hour at a time and average about 2 miles.  Moving fast!!!!

So here was my diet for today:


0900 - 1 pills of Hotrox
0915 - Made shake - 2 scoops protein, 2 scoops super food, 1 scoop leucin, 1 scoop flaxseed, 1 serving fiber, and 1 pill flameout.
1200 - Made shake - 2 scoops protein, 1 scoop leucin, 1 serving fiber, 1 pill flameout.
1500 - Made shake - 2 scoops protein, 1 scoop leucin, 1 serving fiber, 1 pill flameout.
1830 - 2130 - 1 pill Hoxrox
1900 - Made shake - 2 scoops protein, 2 scoops super food, 1 scoop leucin, 1 scoop flaxseed, 1 serving fiber, and 1 pill flameout.
2200 - Made shake - 2 scoops protein, 1 scoop leucin, 1 serving Natural Peanut butter, 1 flameout.
 
Workout was just my walk like said before.

Day 1: Saturday, January 1st, 2011

Well I started it .... and wow!

So I will start off like I had said the last past week (Christmas Eve till New Years Eve) I basically pigged out and  didn't workout as much as would have liked.  So out went the abs and in came a little layer of fat.  So when i woke up this morning to take my picture i looked in the mirror and was a little disturbed by my look.  Lets just say it sort of added up.

Okay so here are the pictures of me this morning.....



Now you see put a little bit of fat.  Still skinny though.


Now you see I added a little bit of a layer of fat and lost some muscle mass.  So here is what amazed me, I can see my abs right now as I am writing this.  This is just after one day on the diet.  Body is burning the fat off quickly.  Is there some muscle probably going, I don't know yet.  That will probably start to show within a couple of days if I am losing muscle mass instead of gaining as the site says.

Now the hunger issue has happened.  Am I starving?  No.  Am I sort of hungry?  Yes.  But the drinks fill me up right away and keep me full for a couple of hours which they are supposed to.  But you have to figure I have been on a 4000 calorie diet since probably summer and today I ate around 1800 to 1900 calories which is less than half than I am used to.

My meals followed exactly what they said they should on the plan:

0915 - 2 pills of Hotrox
0930 - Made shake - 2 scoops protein, 2 scoops super food, 1 scoop leucin, 1 scoop flaxseed, 1 serving fiber, and 1 pill flameout.
1230 - Made shake - 2 scoops protein, 1 scoop leucin, 1 serving fiber, 1 pill flameout.
1530 - Workout drink - 2 scoops Surge Recovery
1730 - Made shake - 2 scoops protein, 1 scoop leucin, 1 serving fiber, 1 pill flameout.
1900 - 2130 - 1 pill Hoxrox
1945 - Made shake - 2 scoops protein, 2 scoops super food, 1 scoop leucin, 1 scoop flaxseed, 1 serving fiber, and 1 pill flameout.
2015 - Made shake - 2 scoops protein, 1 scoop leucin, 1 serving Natural Peanut butter, 1 flameout.

Kind of disappointed in the peanut butter as i hoping for I guess a sugar like taste and that is plain as hell.

Workout wise i did the following at 1500 till 1530 today:

Bent-over bar bell rows

Set 2 - 205 lbs/4reps
Set 3 - 205 lbs/4reps
Set 4 - 205 lbs/4reps
Set 5 - 205 lbs/4reps

Overhead barbell squat
Set 1 - 95 lbs/4reps
Set 2 - 95 lbs/4reps
Set 3 - 95 lbs/4reps
Set 4 - 95 lbs/4reps
Set 5 - 95 lbs/4reps

Dips
Set 1 - 70 lbs/4reps
Set 2 - 70 lbs/4reps
Set 3 - 70 lbs/4reps
Set 4 - 70 lbs/4reps
Set 5 - 70 lbs/4reps

Abs Roll-out
Set 1 - 4 reps
Set 2 - 4 reps
Set 3 - 4 reps
Set 4 - 4 reps
Set 5 - 5 reps

I did leave with a sweat and little sore.  Quick workout as each set was 30 seconds between the other.

So my weight waking up today was 180 lbs., I am pretty sure I will be at least 178 if not lower tomorrow when I weight myself.
